A Cornish Inheritance
I love a historical family drama and A Cornish Inheritance certainly ticked all my boxes. Terri Nixon is a new author for me, however, I will be seeking out other books she has written. I was blown away by the quality of writing which is compelling with outstanding imagery without being overly descriptive.
It is set in 1920’s Britain and surrounds the life of the affluent Fox family. Helen is devastated when her husband tragically dies leaving her with three young children. Due to her husband’s failed investments, Helen finds herself homeless and without the finances she needs to secure her children’s future. She has no choice but to travel to Cornwall where her Mother-in-Law runs the family-owned Fox Bay Hotel.
This is a complex family drama that keeps you guessing to the last page. The characters were so multi-layered, especially the amazing Leah Marshall with her skillful impressions, caring nature, and mysterious personality. There is deceit, betrayal, family loyalties, and strong women. This is an absolute must for anyone who loves a historical drama set in a beautiful location. I am already missing the Fox family and everyone connected to them. Hopefully I won’t have long to wait until the next part of the trilogy is published.
Many thanks to Anne Cater from Random Things Tours and Piatkus Books for a copy of the book which I have reviewed honestly.
