Remembering Alfie (Dog Bereavement)

Remembering Alfie

(2008 -2017)

Dog Bereavement

Today is just a very short post to remember my dog Alfie who died two years ago today.

I was heartbroken when I lost my soulmate very suddenly and this blog was born a few weeks later, in his memory.

I had no idea what a blog was, I just found that writing a poem about Alfie helped me and I hoped it would help others too, so I shared it in a blog. I wanted to combine my love of dogs with my love of reading, hence the name Waggy Tales.

Also, this article A Chat About Dog Bereavement may help if you are struggling with bereavement and there is a post here which is called What to say and NOT to say when a dog has died

I hope these articles help in some small way

Thank you for reading.

  1. Losing a dog is hard. What was hard for me just when I lost 7 Dachshunds in a year’s time. That was two years ago. And another one the year before that. I guess I’ll never get over it. Each time I lose a dog it gets harder and harder. I keep thinking maybe I should not get another dog because of how hard it is to lose them but they keep finding me. And I’m always worried about someday I’ll kick the bucket and my dogs will have to adjust to a new owner. But I believe one of my relatives would take them.

    1. I can’t even imagine how difficult it would be to lose so many so quickly. I wouldn’t be able to get over that either.
